As a young boy growing up in the Free State province of South Africa, Lazarus Ramontseng firmly believed that art would someday become his full-time vocation. While working to turn his dream into a reality, he would eventually meet Edward Selematsela, a seasoned artist who would take him under his wing. As Lazarus and Edward's relationship began to grow, they would quickly discover a common synergy that was fueled by a simple love and passion for art. It was this unique synergy that would lead them to team up and open EdLaz Studio in Marshalltown Johannesburg.

If you stop in at EdLaz Studio, you will find both Lazarus and Edward hard at work creating some of the most profound pieces of art that South Africa has to offer. Lazarus has a heart for people. When he is not busy creating, he’s either giving back to the community or serving with Edward as a part-time teacher to former street children at a small Art School in Hillbrow.

Lazaus’ paintings have been purchased by art collectors worldwide and can be seen in numerous galleries throughout South Africa.
